Things To Look For In A Budget Foosball Table

There are some thing you want to take into consideration.

At this price point, overall construction quality is going to be your biggest concern. Although it might be less than the top of the line tables, $500 is still a good amount of money and you want something that is built to last and stand up to years of intense battles with your friends.

To ensure that your table is going to last, you will want to table that is made out of solid wood or composite. The particle board tables are just not up to the same level of quality. They warp over time and once the playing surface warps then it can be pretty much useless because the ball will always just roll to the same spot on the table.

You should also look for rods that are made out of steel. Higher end tables have hollow rods for more speed, but a solid steel rod on a mid-level table like these is a good choice. It is durable and will stand up to aggressive play (is there any other way to play?)

Finally, look for levelers on the table legs. No floor is ever going to be perfectly level. So you need to be able to adjust each leg of the table independently. This ensures that even if the floor of your game room is not level, your foosball table can be.

Nothing is more frustrating than playing on a Foosball table that is not level. All the of the table on this list have levelers.

Best Foosball Tables Under $500

Now that you know what to look for, here are my top picks for Foosball tables in this price range.

Hathaway Primo Soccer Table (56″)

The Hathaway Primo has a faux wood design which gives it a more classic look. It shares the butcher block table design with many higher end tables.

This would look great and blend nicely with most home bars or game rooms that share the more traditional look. The players are brown and silver which is a combination you don’t see very often in a foosball table and it gives it a bit of a unique look.

Specs

  • Covered with polyresin (good for resisting wear)
  • Wooden handles
  • 5/8″ chrome plated solid steel rods
  • Assembled dimensions: 56.5 x 29 x 34 inches
  • Weight: 136 pounds

The overall construction the table is quite solid. The playing surface has cross-support beams underneath it for stability. This should prevent warping over time and help the table remain stable during gameplay.

This video does a good job of showing you the different features of the Hathaway table…

This table features a single man goalie configuration, levelers on each leg, counterbalanced players, and solid steel rods.

The single man goalie configuration is actually one that is found in most higher end tables, especially those from the UK. American set-ups typically include a three-man goalie. Keep in mind though, that you can always remove the two outer goalies if your table starts with three. However, I would not consider the single goalie setup a negative of the Hathaway table.

The solid steel rods are good for a table at this price and the presence of levelers on each leg is a welcome necessity. Counterbalanced players are something that is usually seen on higher end tables, so it is a welcome addition here.

The wooden handles are a personal preference thing. I prefer the rubber grip handles but that would certainly not be a deal breaker for me.

As for the finishing touches, the table includes four integrated stainless steel cupholders. The playing surface also has a “real turf” look to it (don’t worry it’s not actual turf) that is kinda cool but not really that important to most foosball players.

Overall the Hathaway Primo soccer table is an excellent choice for the best foosball table under $500. sometimes you can even find it for well under that budget.

Harvil Beachcomber

The Harvil Beachcomber Foosball Table is another great table at this mid-range price point.

Just like the prior model, the Harvil beachcomber also has a faux wood design but it is a much lighter, almost sand colored wood design. Likely this is where it get the beachcomber moniker. This table would look great in a more casual game room or home bar. It would also be right at home in a beach house.

Specs

  • Covered with polyresin (good for resisting wear)
  • Solid steel rods
  • Assembled dimensions: 56 x 30 x 34 inches
  • Weight: 138.85 pounds

This table features a three man goalie configuration, levelers on each leg, counterbalanced players, and solid steel rods.

The construction is quite solid with large solid legs. Again, solid steel rods are expected at this price level so that is certainly not a negative.

The playfield is screen-printed with graphics and is also covered with polyresin for maximum resistance to wear and use.

I like the blue and gray player colors better than that of the Hathaway above. Unlike that table however, the players are not counter balanced on the Harvil Beachcomber. While not a necessity for beginner or intermediate players, it is a welcome feature for advanced players and those who play 1 on 1 often.

These things all make the Harvil Beachcomber a good option for a $500 budget. It is a great table if counterbalanced players are not important and if it matches the room that you are planning to put it in.

KICK Splendor Foosball Table

KICK is a brand that I really did not know much about until I had the opportunity to play on one of their tables at a local retailer. Although the price sometimes varies, this one may be just slightly above the $500 budget, but probably not by much.

You can check the latest prices on Amazon by clicking here.

Specs

  • Counterbalanced men
  • 1/2 inch thick playing field
  • Assembled dimensions:  55 x 30 x 36 inches

Aside from an overall great build quality, the KICK Splendor has some great premium features.

The first one is counterbalanced players. It means that when you can turn the men upside down to clear a path for the ball and they won’t fall back down when you let go. This is great for one on one play and practicing your shots.

But my favorite part of this table is the look. The all wood design is a classic look that would be right at home in many home bar or game room setups. It is easily my favorite of the three as far as design goes.
